I'm serious about getting healthy and teaching my children and others that it's completely possible.
My weight in the last several years had increased slowly and there were times when it was fluctuating. It did so because while I wanted to lose weight, I never stuck to it. This time, I'm serious. So let's look at the details.
I am 33 years old and have no shame in that (embracing each blessed day as a gift). I am only 4 ft 11 1/2 inches tall. Having a short torso on my "fun sized" body makes me have that dreaded apple shape. Not good for many health reasons. So... I calculate my BMI after the doctors visit I have in January (why in the world did I make an appointment right after the holidays?).
This is what it said. Boo.

So now I know I'm overweight and refuse to let that get worse. Telling a few friends, learning some crossfit I can do at home, and hitting the gym has been wonderful. I also started using My Fitness Pal and making an effort not to over eat.
As of last week, look where I'm at:

Yep, this girl is in the normal range. It does make me feel much better but I have to admit, I'm not feeling "normal". Maybe normal compared to America's obesity rate? Seriously, I'm still a large girl. I know 125 lbs may not seem like much for some but remember, I'm "fun sized". That means I just squeezed into a size 8 jeans, wear a size medium top, and still wear an extender on my bra because I'm in denial of the size I should really be wearing. Yep.
Despite where I am, I'm still motivated and excited even if I didn't lose anything this past week. I ate well, worked on my abs, and jumped rope so fast that I wanted to die.
Here is my progress since mid January. 12 lbs of fat outta here!

Oh yeah, happy girl I am! Although there aren't any real visible changes, I have lost almost 3 inches around the waste and went for squeezing in my size 10 to an 8.
I am attempting to start couch to 5k this week too. I'll update that progress if I don't get injured and make it through the week!
My moms birthday was February 19. I sent my sisters some information on Mardi Gras and look at what they did:

They had a king cake, made red beans & rice and gumbo! Yum!
In the picture: my mom, my nieces Thalia, Deja, Jaida, and my nephew Miguel.

This beautiful flatbread pizza was amazing!!
Below is my beautiful sister this past Saturday. She went to the mountains with her company. I love that she had fun and the smile on her face makes me so incredibly happy.

Alright this was long enough and I have 2 finals to study for and a 15 page paper that refuses to write itself.
Have a fabulous day!
